They are both although marketed as all-terrain, they are from rugged terrain family, mostly known as hybrids. That’s because although they have closed up central blocks like all-terrain, their shoulder lugs resemble those you see on mud tires, as they have larger tread voids. Still in comparison, the Cooper Rugged Trek is not as aggressive. Even though the tire features dual sidewalls, with thick enough lugs, they are still not as powerful as the Baja Boss A/t from both inside and out. As on that tire, from outside, you get to have powerful slanted V shaped biters which present better sidewall flexing when aired down to a lower air pressure. And from inside, the tire features 3 ply polyester casing with construction that you mostly see on mud terrain tires. Similarly in the middle part of the tread, the tire features multiple biters. Here you basically see two ribs where on one, you have blocks with chambered edges, notches, sharp triangular biters, and supporting ridges. And on the other, along with all of those features, you also have lateral and longitudinal slits, providing more randomness to Its already asymmetric structure and with it a superior off-road bite. It’s full depth interlocking sipes, which go all the way deep down to the base also are capable of splitting open the lugs, where needed, adding to that biting power. On the other side, the Cooper Rugged Trek is although weaker, the smaller number of plies make it a lot lighter. It’s heaviest weight with F load rating weighs only 70 pounds, that’s 20 pounds lighter on the same size and rating on Baja Boss A/T.
