On dry hard paved surfaces Mud Hog performs satisfactorily, because it also has less surface area contact with the road. But compared with Couragia, it is much better.

On-Road Traction Comparison

Federal Couragia MT has a widened groove pattern tread which causes trouble on road because Its open because less surface area is in contact with road and as a result the MT tread pattern provides less grip on hard and dry surfaces.

Although the open tread pattern puts Kanati mud hog on a disadvantage as less surface area in contact with road account for less grip but still the Mud Hog performs much better than its competitor as it has somewhat more contact patch which increases its traction. Kanati Mud Hog has a deeper tread compared to its competitor this allows it to have better traction on mud, snow and sandy terrains. As all the unwanted particles are trapped in the grooves and thrown backwards by the forward movement. It also has incredible traction on rocky terrains as it has in-built bold and big stone ejectors, they emit any stone/pebble from getting stuck into the grooves and as a result vehicle moves smoothly on rocky/gravelly terrains.

Comfort

Federal Couragia M/T is much louder as most of the Mud terrain tires, due to its large grooves. The open tread design and large, deep grooves make Couragia MT a noisy tire as more air particles come in between the grooves and collide with the tire tread, creating noise.

Kanati Mud hog make less noise as compared with other MT tires. The Rubber composition of Kanati Mud Hog is the main reason for its quietness moreover the angled design of tread lugs lessens the noise.
